What we are

SABA is an organization that was founded in 1988 to provide a network for bellydancers and supporters. It has grown into an organization whose functions include:

• Serving as an information network and social forum for students, teachers, performers and fans of bellydance.

• Educating dancers and the public about the Middle Eastern roots of this ancient and beautiful art form while acknowledging today’s contemporary influences.

• Acting as a resource and liason for the Syracuse area and beyond.

• Promoting good will in the dance community by creating unity through appreciation and acceptance of many diverse styles of bellydance.

Everyone is welcome to become a SABA member.

• We meet regularly to network, discuss topics of interest and plan group events.

• We hold Open Dance Nights. Dates and locations are posted in the newsletter.

• We sponsor an annual dance workshop followed by an evening show.

Open Dance Nights

Open Dance is similar to musical “open mike” nights. All SABA members and their guests are invited to perform at these events. Since the skill level ranges from beginner to professional, emphasis is on supporting developing artists and encouraging all dancers to acquire the professionalism expected of experienced dancers.

What we're not

SABA is not a dance troupe, talent or booking agency, or dance school.
